I'm a newbie, and seeing this giant monster in Independence Port gave me the urge to get a little closer, perhaps take it down, so I attacked 1 tenticle only to be slapped near death. Were is the tarter sauce?! 
With my team behind me, I only died twice, but was able to recover myself, no one even noticed me gone with all the melee.
With all tenticles gone, I started to feel sorry for the poor animal, squid...whatever...but I got a badge for killing this poor creature of the sea anyhow. Tip: You need at least 2 teams of eight to fight her and plenty of heals.
